Becker gives thumbs up for The Leonardo

The war on science is over, as far as Mayor Ralph Becker is concerned.

Convinced a streamlined business plan makes sense, Becker is recommending Salt Lake City release a voter-approved $10.2 million bond and enter into a lease agreement with The Leonardo. The decision, transmitted to the City Council Friday, follows a six-month review by Decatur and Company, a consultant hired by the city to review the management portfolio for the science and cultural center planned for the old Main Library east of City Hall.

"I believe our team has done an extensive review of both The Leonardo's business plan and building renovation plan, and we have arrived at the most appropriate recommendation," Becker said.
